Want to lose a few pounds? Pop an egg…

By now you probably know we’re fans of eggs. To be honest, that was probably fairly clear to you from, you know, looking at our product. And you’d be correct, we are fans of eggs… so much so that we already wrote an entire blog post dedicated to why you shouldn’t pay much attention to the negative rep eggs have had in the past (dammit Edwina Currie)! Now we’re back to hit you with a few more egg-based facts – and why they’re actually a crackin’ food for dropping a few pounds.

According to this study eating hard boiled eggs for breakfast set you up nicely for the day ahead. In the study, 30 overweight or obese women ate either 2 eggs or a bagel for breakfast, each containing the same amount of calories and almost identical levels of protein. The researchers recorded the women’s eating habits and found that over the next 36 hours the group eating the egg-containing breakfast consumed, on average, 417 calories less than the bagel-eating group. This might be down to the fact that the high-quality proteins in eggs boost satiety… which means you feel fuller for longer and have less need to snack.

Eggs also provide a gluten-free option for our coeliac and gluten intolerant friends, as well as being a great carb-free option for dieters. Why are they so freaking good for you? In short, the humble egg is packed with Protein, Vitamins B, A and D – which all help maintain healthy bodies and aid the growth and repair of our teeth, bones and skin. They’re pretty much a superfood, containing one of the best calorie to vitamin ratios of all foods.

So there you have it. Want to drop a few pounds or just switch to a healthier breakfast or lunch? Grab yourself a couple o’ Crackin’ Eggs! We don’t have a listing for them at the moment but keep a close eye on our Facebook and Twitter as we have an exciting announcement coming soon…
